because of the decency and respect of john the landlord of the golden lion pub last night after the first spot he came over and asked us to turn down just a notch and because of having the same conversation with members of the band a few of the lads may not agree with me and the way I work this reminds me to write this blog before i forget.

we played the stonewell tavern about a month ago, personally i have been going in the pub for over 20 years and like a pint or a glass of wine in the pub on a thursday at the jazz session or over the weekend when they have various bands on. now I’m not saying our band isn’t loud but the lass behind the bar chirped up while were sound checking saying she was shutting the place down if we played that loud, i went out front and listened and it didn’t seem quite bad considering the place was empty and the volume would get absorbed when the people we had coming to see us came in. so we started our set after few songs the land lady started to shout across the room from behind the bar at me saying turn down which i said ok and went to tell the band and then some other random woman chirped up and interfered which made her start up again shouting at me while i was performing on the stage so i asked her to carry on with her job and i will sort the band then she got high rate and told me i was rude so by this point I’m boiling so i told her she was annoying me and was ready for packing down my equipment, I’ve never had this happen to me in over 20 years of playing and personally will not put up with it fair enough if other band members want to allow this happen to them thats there choice in this case I’m not putting up with she can screw herself she is a jumped up bad excuse for a landlady end of. So i gets of stage the lass behind the bar says you going to apologise were i replied I will if she does for being so unprofessional so then I said I’m sorry so she said she wasn’t so i retracted my apology and basically barred myself from the pub. She said all the band had apologised which was a lie as my honourable band member and cousin jimmy never and said she was out of order, so thanks for the loyalty i really appreciate the honour and decency for you to look at the situation properly. So apart from getting electric shocks from the dodgy wiring and the piano taking up half the stage I’m really pissed of about it because it aint a bad pub and i like gerry but i aint playing in the pub again till i either get an apology or the place gets a new landlord well land lady. Plenty more other band places in lancaster to play instead. I also consulted my farther and other decent musicians for there option and they say I’m correct so to the other people who may disagree with me man up get a set of balls and don’t be walked over by somebody who just manages a pub whoopee shit anybody can do it, i don’t care if she is apparently a nice person i think she is a disrespectful old boot and can go and suck egg wind – end off – check out my google review aswell I haven’t finished there trust me more to come don’t like it read this TUFF SHIT.

ive gone back to macjournal again ive installed it on the ipad iphone and macbook so lets see how the three way sync works. deceided to start a private journal again aswell as my public blogging its always handy to look back at events and things that happen…

we have all the gear supplied just need a guitar or bass !! nice and easy

we have music in between the sets so no crap music on repeat!

the first day we have a few great bands to fill the spots

come along lets have a jam its going to be great

once a month so its something to look forward to and not the same old …..

we will take pictures – record it and video it and fire it all on the Facebook and main site!!!!!!!!!!

Most Villas on the Costa have iron grills on the windows and front doors, there is a fire alarm, and the tiled floors are original many years old. A thing that I would not consider changing as it is the character of the Spanish villa. So that’s why I did not take you up on you making me a website for my apartment that you mentioned on your stay at the Villa. The locks have been changed at the apartment as l do not know how long you had lost the keys, and if you had left them with your friend with the dog you had in the apartment. Every change over the apartment is cleaned floors bleached etc.

SHE HAS NO FIRE ALARMS –  I NEVER OFFERED HER A WEBSITE – YES I HAD MY FRIEND IN WITH A DOG SO WHAT? – THE LOCKS HAVENT BEEN CHANGED SINCE 1950! – THE FLOORS ARE FILTHY – THIS WOMAN IS A LIAR AND IS IN BIG TROUBLE!

ill start on the music side – finally got myself a 12 string rickie 330 fired to one side which  I’m looking forward to getting my hands on… lovely bit of kit in fireglo, also before i had chance to leave i tried out the TC electronics rig I’ve had my eye for a while class D 450 amp head and a 2×10 lightweight cab – great compression and 450 watts from a head this small is amazing – the cab is lightweight and does 300 watts so you can add another cab and have 600 watt in speaker cabs and carry these in on your own at the same time!! i have to say its going to be the hardest thing getting rid of my trace elliot rig which I’ve used reliably for over ten years and been using race elliot all through my years of playing bass! one problem with trace elliot gear is caring it! also there is the problem of finding someone willing to help you carry it!!! I’ve struggled for years – so yes its the rolls royce and who ever gets to buy it is a lucky person ……  been self teaching slide and it aint sounding bad at all – the problem is there aint a lot of slide players around here they have a blues jam on a sunday in lancaster which i miss cause i gig which is a shame. Im listening a lot and learning its a great thing to learn lots of people think they can just take the piss and pick up some bottle neck and play it but they find it sounds shit – a few things you have to keep in mind you need the right rig – the right guitar – the right feeling – otherwise be prepared to look a twat!….. my guitar playing is coming on well considering I’ve always been a bass player its nice to get a lot more guitar work and the blues band i play in top dog I’ve jut moved onto guitar with jim playing around his guitar and firing in some slide which is something to get my teeth into!.. the weekly acoustic rehearsals i have with paul is great – great harmonies and some great guitar parts – so all around i have to say music is good, real good.

techie stuff – just got me  a draytek 2830n – this is like the dogs nut in routers – gigabit – three aerials for wireless – 3 internet connections which failover and share! usb port which can be used for failover 3g stick or usb hardisk or printer to be shared on the network or just for a syslog stick!! We had a crap connection and the wireless was crap upstairs i noticed when i was trying to work if i pulled my lads computer out the network speeded up which this wasn’t the first time as the network has been doing this for a while – with this router I’ve tied him into a ipadress as the router locks mac addresses to a ip address then i fired his ip into bottle neck which stops him from hogging all the internet and I’ve attached logging to the ipa dress to his two pip addresses so i can see what the fuck he is doing!! i have to say there has been no drop outs and no slow downs since i took this action – so yes 180 is a lot of money for a router when u get these for for free usually chucked in by your ISP but to be honest they are a pile of crap, You get what you pay for

more techie crap – jut moved all domain from a hosted server to pro cluster which has taken ages but was worth it! i moved all my domain into the host were i host the cluster so they are together now – on the pro host all the email addresses / database and websites were all mixed together which was a real pain. Now they are all kept separate which is a lot more organised and makes it easy to get straight and work on the site in question. Ive started testing my websites on wordpress as I’ve always used joomla – only because you can use a blog editor on your desktop to update the site without having to go in the back of the site which is handy – i haven’t found it better but not bad ill keep testing……   I’ve also put second test phase of global band network – its very cut down and plain at the moment but watch this space…..

Just got me a copy of the old unreal tournament – old skool game weighs in at 900 meg compared to the games of today which around six gig! but hell this game kicks ass – fast paced with internet play – amazing runs great on the mac – i remember it worked well on my linux boxes aswell… right of to kick some assess see you all sone you hear !!

tested out the new orange rig sunday, used the gibson firebird through it – amazing stuff – the orange head is the dual terror, nice and easy to use one

tone control for each of the dual channels,  one gain and one volume for each channel. Also has half power / full power and switch to turn off two of the output valves which gives you 7w – 15 – 30w. Ive added the orange closed back 2×12 which is a bloody heavy cab but nothing touches it, i had the marshall cab before with a open back and it came nowhere near it. Three outputs on the back 2×8 ohm and 1x16ohn which my orange cab is. Volume wise this amp is great for home to quite big gigs don’t let the 30w get you thinking thats not loud because this thing could kick the ass out of any 100w tranny amp! plus it sounds better, you cant beat tubes for guitar end of. I an get any sound i want with the orange head and it has a nice grunt to it. It has one socket for a footswitch for switching channels and the one thing that would have been nice but not critical is no reverb but thats not the end of the earth – I’ve got a reverb and a delay pedal – plus this amp is so good i don’t need crappy effects really you can play this one dry. Okay to the point orange stuff is expensive yes its very good and I have to say better than any other amp I’ve used including my george dennis 15w blue beetle which i still own and cherish – i have to say the orange stuff just sounds like a guitar should do – real natural and a extra bonus of looking cooler than your pals in  the band!! ha ha The amp head comes in a great quality carry bag sporting the orange logo and a great shoulder strap for lugging it about – also a compartment on the front for the power lead and a few jack leads.

The firebird sounds amazing through but what do you expect its a gibson!? plenty of grunt and sounding lovely when played subtle, the stat when tested at home was very bright were i had to tone it down a bit – very crisp and clean.

I am considering getting the 1×12 for the smaller gig the fact they are half the price and not made in the UK but in china and don’t have the same build quality is slightly of putting to me – I think ill hang on till they real ease maybe a english one……

conclusion – save up buy one its a investment and a honour.

jut got the footswitch and cab cover to order this week!!!

just testing out the new google + social networking site…

its early days and can see it being good competition for Facebook as a lot of people like me are sick of Facebook and the shite that comes along with it!

what i liked about google + was the circles part of the site – i can basically drags mates into friends and musicians into musos or drag them into both circles so if i ask people on Facebook if anyone has used a orange amp you get the none musicians saying what the fuk you on about and the general shite you get – were as with circles i post that just to musicians the people who are interested I noticed no chat bar at the bottom but i found chat on the side and from settings installed the v

oice and video plugin for my mac which I’m going to test tonight… i like the way that it ties into picasa but i noticed the 1 gig limit on pictures and you have to pay when you go over which might put people off..

i noticed not being able to post on peoples wall direct you can message them or post a comment but just a general hello to some one etc can’t be done yet… i think groups would have to be added but maybe not its quite a popular thing to add to on Facebook but then again twitter doesn’t have groups and that works great.. as long as they don’t start adding shitty games and horoscopes it think it will be good all that stuff puts me off Facebook totally – again its early days so good luck google the main foundation seems great simple to use – clean – fingers crossed.
