I decided to change the whole lancaster computers site and changed over from joomla 1.0 to the joomla 1.5 version. No there is a big difference between the two and certain plugins wont work as they are not available for the 1.5 version so you basically can plug the old modules etc into the 1.5 but you have to run it in legacy mode then. I used to use joomla stats and thought its pointless running in legacy mode and run te risk of security breaches so i added the google analytics for my web site stats which is probably better than joomla stats anyway! Well the main difference i do see is the optimisation options which are much better, the interface itself id say is harder to use but thats because im used to the joomla 1.0 version i suppose and will get used to the joomla 1.5 version. The module and com installer is different as you just have one installer now which can install from a local package on the machine or from a url which is handy, were we used to have three installers for modules etc which was a bit messy. Id say its a move for the best give it a shot take a look at http://www.joomla.org

only yesterday i was number one in google for the keyword wayne ward. Today im dropping!! Some one has topped me because they are called wayne ward on bebo!! aaaagghhhhh

Just finished rehersal with promethium

I had a short break from the band but now we are back together with the full original line up. Sounding better than ever! We are hitting the studio in december and will have a new demo out for xmas! – We will be doing a live gig in lancaster soon for the cd launch.

Getting some high traffic to my blog!!

I can see it is proving usefull to some users

My biggest ammounts of hits is of the google bot – its gone crazy!!

yahoo doesnt hardly crawl and is basically hardly working!

Google rifles my site a few times a day and crawls like a real spider..

I just stopped the latest update coming to my phone – i only just root access and now there wanting to apply a patch that kills my root access!

Any way here is the fix assuming you have root already

mount -o remount rw /system

mv /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.nothanks

when update comes now it will fail! this will do till a fix arrives…

Getting closer to writing a decent blog on the google android linux phone! I like to use it for a good week first to see its real good points and bad points. A few things that spring to mind ..
Major hang up is no on screen virtual keyboard which would be better than flippin the phone open everytime I want to reply to a quick text!
I’ve managed to suss out how to write to my blog through the browser on the google phone ill blog this but it was a real pain!
One big pain in the ass is the charger socket! Try use the keyboard on the phone with it plugged in!! Madness who designed and tested this….
One thing I am happy about is I’ve got a irc client working now and I have root on the phone!! Yes you heard I am root and have busybox installed so I’m at home in the linux box!!!
I have a precompiled sshd and ssh here the ssh works fine but need to make a sshd config for sshd – I have use the deadly telnet service a few times till I configure it.

Test blog on my google g1 android phone!!

Seeing im getting the G1 google phone in the morning i thought id set myself up a google account as its part of the requirements – Basically when you add a date a contact it autmatically puts them into your google account. Which for one backs the data up for you so if you losse your phone no worries!! You can give people access to read your calendar & i added the settings into my kontact to sync my calendar dates (you need gcaldeamon).
Any way i was just setting all this up when i fell across google bookmarks!
Well i host my own sitebar which is a bookmark mananger its good but a bit of hassle to add bookmarks. With google bookmarks you plug a extension into firefox add the bookmark icon to firefox – Sign in and start adding bookmarks!! easy so all your bookmarks are kept on line so handy if you move around computers – plus you can edit the bookmarks and folders easily from firefox or go to your home page – igoogle – yep thats another bit of kit to investigate…
Need to start looking at shares…!!
